Beach Descriptions
We Are Learning To Describe.
Check out our beach descriptions using similes, personification and interesting adjectives. We tried to use our senses to help paint a picture for the reader.

At the Beach
At the beach me and my dad were surfing. The waves were
crashing on me like lava. The waves felt very warm. I leapt into the water. Woosh!
The waves splashed on me and I fell off my boogie board. I got up and got back
on my boogie board. I could smell the salty sea on my skin. I like the beach!

At the Beach
At the beach it was as cold as Green Land. The water was
frozen like an Ice rink. The trees were full of snow. In the sky across the
ocean you could hear a blizzard on its way. It smelled crisp and cold.

Email details
Hello Parents and Caregivers,
To enable us to quickly and easily get class and school messages to you we need to create an email list. In the spirit of moving away from paper towards technology I have created a google doc to collect your emails.
Please take the time to click on this link and enter your relevant emails in the document so that our lovely class coordinator Rachel can easily create our class list.
Many Thanks,
Maya Carryer

Helping at Home
Hi Parents!
At Meet the Teacher evening last night we talked about how parents can help out at home and how do you know where your child should be in their reading, writing and maths. The ministry of education website has a great page that explains the national standard expectations and gives good ideas on how you can help at home.
Here is the link to the expectations for the end of year Four
Maths goal sheets will be coming home in homework books soon.

Week One (By Everyone)
This week was the first week back and we had a great time getting to know one another and the classroom.
In art we painted in the style of Sarah C, a New Zealand artist.
In Maths we made a poster all about us and the numbers in our lives. We measured our heights and will have a competition to see who can guess how much they will grow by December. We also had to find things in the classroom and mark them on a map so that we know where everything is.
We had Year Four sports and had fun doing problem solving and cooperation games.
We have started writing Bio poems which are going to be fantastic!
Have a great Waitangi day and long weekend!
